Everyone makes mistakes every now and then, even while at work. It's simply a part of human nature and it is unavoidable (for the most part). However, some mistakes are very much avoidable simply by double-checking your work or making sure to have a second pair of eyes go over it. Well, it seems like not everyone is so careful. as this list will prove. Enjoy these pictures of people who had one very simple job to perform and failed in the most pathetic way.
A True Labeling Disaster
You wouldn't think that it would be too difficult to label a recycling bin. After all...how difficult can it be? Well, this person would claim that it is truly quite a challenging endeavor, or maybe they simply never noticed the mistake at all. However, they have certainly left many people scratching their heads in confusion when they look at this mismatched recycling bin. Where should you put the paper and the plastic?
The only sure thing here is that recycled metal goes in the middle slot. Everything beyond that is everyone's best guess for themselves and you can only hope for the best.
In Case You Have Multiple Mouths
Oftentimes people would be grateful to receive anything extra, but in the case of this container of Capri Sun, they might have taken things just a little too far. After all, unless you are some sort of alien creature with multiple mouths, it is unlikely that you will have use for more than one straw while drinking from a juice box. Maybe this particular juice box was meant for sharing with friends?
They took all the straws meant for the juice boxes in the container and put them on one juice box...but then forgot about it all and gave each pouch another straw.
The Spokesman Can't Speak for Him
What is someone to do when their spokesman is not able to speak for them? Either they should change the person's title (to something other than spokesman) or figure out a statement that can be released in the president's name. After all, what is your job if not to speak for the president when he is not able to make an appearance himself? He literally has one job and managed to fail miserably.
What was so controversial that this spokesperson was too scared to say anything in the name of the president? It must have been a truly large scandal to make such a strange statement.
Ghosts Are Filling Out This Survey
Have you ever been in an accident that resulted in your death? Someone must have truly had an interesting lapse of understanding when they wrote out this question. Maybe if they said "an accident that nearly resulted in your death" it would make things a little bit better, but unless they are expecting to have ghosts fill out this survey, it is unlikely that they had anyone answer "yes" to this question.
It must have been pretty disturbing to read the results and see some people who answered "yes" here. You can only hope that they thought it was truly comical and wanted to play along with the joke.
That's One Big Hot Dog
It's true to say that you never know what will be on the back of your billboard when you create an advertisement. But it is unlikely that anyone assumed that the coincidence could ever end up as horrible as this. The hot dog ad really went all out with their marketing, including a 3-D hot dog on the billboard. What they didn't account for was what would be posted on the other side.
That truly is a "bold look into the future" as the ad would claim. Well, if they were looking for attention-grabbing they most certainly got it!
At Least They Admitted Their Mistake
Some people are quick to make remarks in the marketing world that they think will cause a splash and be great for the promotion of their brand. Waterstones took that risk with their strange request to imagine your favorite book and quickly go out to buy it. What they didn't consider is that in order for it to be someone's favorite book, they would have had to have already read it, making it very likely that they already own it.
The silver lining in this mistake is that they quickly understood their folly and took back their remarks in a silly way. Perhaps you could say that this marketing campaign was still a success!
Slide to Your Doom
Have you ever wanted to go to a playground and enjoy some time on one of the slides? Well, maybe you should think twice before coming here as this slide might slide you right to your doom. The sewer pit is open and the end of the slide is positioned in the worst possible location. Who would want to take a risk on this entertainment, especially for little children?
In case all the mothers in the town were wondering what happened to their children when they go to the park, maybe they should look into this sewer! This looks like the beginning of a horror film.
South Dakota Is on Meth
It's rare for South Dakota to make enough of a name for itself that it appears on the map as anything other than North Dakota's sister. However, this is something to make South Dakota memorable for many years to come. There was someone on the marketing team in South Dakota that truly thought that this sign was a good idea. How? No one can ever truly understand..
In case you were wondering, South Dakota has a message for you..."Meth. We're on it." This campaign might have the opposite effect than what they were planning to portray.
When You're Dead Instead of Deaf
Beethoven is famous for many things, but creating incredible music after recovering from his death bed is not one of them, as this book tends to claim. We have all been subject to the awkward typo from time to time, but it looks like this book made a record mistake. Instead of saying that Beethoven was not hindered by being deaf, they accidentally typed out dead instead. Not quite the same sentence at all.
It looks like Beethoven even managed to fall in love many times after being dead. This man appears to be a lot more incredible than anyone even expected.
Shoplifters Watch Out
In case prosection was not scary enough to deter these shoplifters, in this place they will have a different punishment altogether. Although it can be safe to assume that this is just a typo (hopefully), it is certainly a disturbing one to say the least. Shoplifting is pretty bad, but being "prostituted" is certainly a lot worse. It doesn't seem quite like a fair punishment for the crime!
You would think that crime rates, at least shoplifting rates, would be pretty low in areas that boast these bright red, typoed signs.
The Door Delivery Didn't Fit Through the Door
Although it's fair to say that ordering a door online is a rather strange order, what is even stranger here is that the delivery people somehow managed to entirely bend the door. Now, most doors are made from some pretty sturdy material so it's pretty shocking (to say the least) that someone managed to deliver this in such terrible condition. What kind of hulk delivery people does UPS hire?
Granted, the door didn't fit through the door so it seems like the delivery people had to get creative. In their creativity, they somehow managed to bend the door entirely.
The World's Worst Ad Placement
Sometimes the universe just wants to display irony at its finest...and here is its prime example. Following this terrible news story of a 73 year old man who kills his son in his sleep. What was the murder weapon of choice? A knife. What is the ad that is featured right below this article? An ad for a new set of knives. And to top it off, there is a special sale just Father's Day.
This is almost too disturbing to be a coincidence. Maybe the printers at the newspaper don't like the idea of purchasing knives as a gift and purposefully paired the ad next to this headline.
Something Got Lost in the Translation
There is no limit to the number of times there have been communication gaps via email or over the phone. Things got lost in translation...as can be seen here. What was the request from the boss? To write "No Smoking" in Arabic on the side of this oil tanker. What did the employee do? He wrote out "No Smoking in Arabic". Technically, the job was completed, but it seems he took things a little too literally.
Considering this is such an important message to have on the side of an oil tank, it really was critical that it was written in the language of the people who would be working with it. What a big mistake!
Everything Is More Expensive in France
Some things in life just don't make sense. What is the perfect example of that? These two pillows are unarguably the exact same thing, designed with three multi-colored stripes. However, just because they are labeled differently the manufacturers thought they could price them differently. It looks like they assume that people are willing to pay much more for a French flag pillow over a Dutch flag pillow. Discrimination?
Hopefully, no one was bamboozled into buying the French flag pillow. You can only pray that they realized the stupidity and bought the Dutch flag pillow and simply turned it to its side.
The Sliding Door Company Does Not Have Sliding Doors
What is the meaning of anything in life if the doors on the entrance of the office for The Sliding Door Company does not even have sliding doors? It is sick irony or absurd stupidity? You may never know. But either way, it is purely hilarious and there is truly sad if none of the employees of The Sliding Door Company realized how silly this looks to all people?
The employees here must feel pretty silly every time they open the doors to their office and see the gloating words "sliding door" written on the outside.
Grammar Is Key When Insulting
Grammar is undoubtedly very important in all circumstances, however, when you are trying to make a point about properly speaking a language, it is critical that you double or even triple check your spelling. If not, you may end up like this foolish (and rude) person who made a sign attacking those who do not speak English in America while also misspelling a key word. You might even think it's a joke, it's so pathetic.
Maybe it's time for you to correct your use of your and make sure you're using the correct one or you'll continue to make a fool of yourself.
Make Sure to Separate the Signs
Both of these signs contain great and encouraging messages on their own, however, when read together in the incorrect order, they are quite depressing. Instead of saying "You matter. Don't give up" as the sign was certainly intended to read, people may accidentally read it as "You don't matter, give up." This is definitely not the message the sign creators were trying to portray but shows the importance of placement~
Maybe they should consider spreading the signs apart a bit and then no one will be confused about the true message that these people are trying to portray.
The Restaurant That Cooks People
If this doesn't sound like the best place to work..."Serve people, greet people, and cook people!" What a slogan. At least they realized their mistake and tried to fix it by crossing out the people and replacing it with food, however, the damage has already been done and it is difficult to recover from that. Only a certain type of person will be applying for this job it seems.
The creator of this sign had one job, and there weren't even that many words written on the poster so it is pretty sad to see such a big typo here.
Too Many Mistakes to Process
Everything about this survey is wrong. There is literally not even one line that makes sense. First, they ask, "do you have at least 1 year of 0 experience?". Well, technically everyone has at least one year of zero experience under their belt. Things only get worse when they ask, "do you speak United States?". In a sense, everyone can speak United States so perhaps the obvious answer is "yes" to all questions.
What exactly are they applying for these are among the questions being asked? And how did this survey get published? There are so many questions.
Mistakes Are Proof You're Trash
In case you are looking for some nice, old-fashioned inspiration, head over to this library and you will see one of the most encouraging messages. Mistakes are proof you are...trash. Someone failed miserably at their job by placing this trash can right in front of the punch line of this poster, or perhaps the whole thing was completely intentional and they wanted to cover up the positive message of this rainbow-filled poster with a negative one.
All it takes to fix this mistake is to move the trash can to another location. Surely it wouldn't make much of a difference to simply move the trash can to another place to give people a happier message.
The Most Effective Police Officer
Robotic police officers are certainly a sign of a modern dystopian nightmare, but maybe things aren't as bad as people expected. One woman went up to report a crime to one of the police robots and what did the robot say? It told her to go away...and then ended things by rolling away and singing a song. At least it's keeping things on a positive note..
Clearly, this police robot is not quite as high-tech or effective as they have led people to believe. Also, why did they even give the robot the ability to sing, how is that related to police work?
That Is One Important Title
Imagine it is finally your big moment. You did something newsworthy and you are appearing on the evening news. When it's your turn to appear, you see that someone made quite the mistake when it came to your name. Instead of replacing the clear sample, standard text, they forgot entirely. And now you are Namey Name-Name working as Jobby Job-Job forever. Although it is funny, it is also pretty sad.
What kind of job do you think Namey Name-Name has? It is unlikely that it can be better than working as a Jobby Job-Job. What do you think?
Roman Numerals Make a Difference
People rarely use roman numerals in today's world that it's hard to blame this person for this mistake. After all, the number 1 does look a lot like the roman numeral. However, there has yet to be a World War 11 (and may there never be) and it most certainly did not take place between 1939 and 1945. It is quite clear that they are trying to say WW2 but maybe they should have put a plus sign between the two 1's.
It's even sadder when someone makes a stupid mistake like this on an important memorial. Their thought was definitely in the right place, but the execution was very off and needed a final edit before creating the plaque.
This Ice Cream Identifies as a Salad
If this cup of ice cream decides that it wants to call itself a crunchy vegetable salad, no one is going to argue with it. After all, everyone wants to eat vanilla ice cream with Oreos and whipped cream while pretending that it is a crunchy vegetable salad, so why not just label it that way and make sure everyone thinks that that is what it is! No one has to know.
That is one delicious looking crunchy vegetable salad, if only they all looked like that, people wouldn't have such a hard time eating them every day, they would look forward to it.
Your Name Must Be a Number
It appears that the world is changing and you are no longer allowed to refer to yourself by your name, spelled with letters. Rather, your name (at least according to this quiz) must be a number. Although that is pretty oxymoronic in its very nature since very few people in this world have a number for a name, who knows, times are changing, so maybe this is the direction they are changing.
Maybe they could add together the sum of the numerical values of the letters of their name...and that would be the number to include in this line under "First Name".
Always Forgetting About the Mirror
It seems a little useless to blur out the picture of this man's face for privacy reasons only to leave it unblurred and uncovered in the mirror's reflection. Then again, it is no surprise since people use photoshop constantly and the most common giveaway that Photoshop was used (often poorly) is the unmatching reflection in the mirror. Somehow it just slips people's minds regularly it seems.
The man's reflection in the mirror is still pretty blurry even if it was not fully blurred out for privacy reasons. It is very unlikely that anyone will be able to recognize the man despite someone's big mistake.
Rosa Parks on the Back of a Bus... Again
The people behind this poster honoring Rosa Parks most likely had the right intentions, but something just doesn't sit right with putting her picture on the back of the bus, considering that her entire story is based on the fact that she refused to move to the back of the bus for a white person. Here is yet another example of how people need to think things through a bit more before showing them to the entire world.
This is probably not the right way to honor Rosa Parks, although it most likely was not meant to be offensive. It probably just slipped the minds of the creators.
The Grocery Basket Hoarder
Either this woman is totally oblivious or she really just does not care if she takes all the baskets for everyone else's use and would rather have her experience be more convenient. If it was an accident how long do you think it took her to realize that she had hoarded nearly all of the grocery store's baskets just for herself. If it was intentional, it is pretty rude and inconsiderate of her.
It seems more likely that this was an accident rather than an intentional hoarding. Either way, she must have been pretty embarrassed when she found out and saw people making fun of her.
Maybe He Has Nine Lives
Hypocrisy at its finest can be seen very clearly portrayed in this picture right here. The message on this man's shirt could not be more accurate, "Wear helmet. Helmets saves life." However, his actions spoke louder than his words as he is pictured here riding his motorcycle completely helmetless. You can only hope that he will not live to regret the irony of this photo and the shirt he chose to wear.
Beyond the irony of this photo, the grammar is also completely wrong in the writing on the t-shirt. It looks like he forgot a few words here and there to make it make sense.
That Is Not Something to Be Proud of
It is not really something to be particularly proud of when you are practicing your shooting with a dummy of a gunman and a hostage and you see that you used all of your bullets on the wrong person. Usually, in a hostage situation, the person coming to defend is trying to keep the hostage alive and well, not shoot them multiple times all of their body.
This really is an interesting photo to capture as it shows the exact opposite message of what they were probably trying to portray. Someone clearly didn't think this through very thoroughly.
Turn Right Left
There is nothing more frustrating than not knowing where you are supposed to drive on a busy back road. This road sign only makes matter a thousand times worse with what almost looks like a joke painted on the ground. The turn is the only clear thing in the photo, with a hovering sign of arrows pointing in both directions. Underneath there is utter chaos as it appears both the words "right" and "left" were written there at one point.
Maybe this is their way of saying that they can turn both ways. They didn't have enough room on the street to write both words, so they simply wrote them on top of each other instead, ignoring how confusing it may look.
You WILL Marry Me
Although this surely was meant to be a sweet marriage proposal with these friends writing out the words "will you marry me", the first two people severely messed things up and switched the order of their signs, making for a very different statement indeed. What was supposed to be a sweet request turned into more of a threat? You WILL marry me. They should just add "or else..." at the end and the threat will be complete.
Hopefully, the girlfriend thought this was comical rather than offensive and scary. Do you think that they got engaged despite the mix up with the wording on the signs?
The Camera Man Betrayed Them
The cameraman at this sports game was very clearly on the side of the wives in this situation, or he just couldn't pass up the comical signs that these two men had created. It does seem a bit silly to hold up such blatant, comical signs though if they truly didn't want to be captured on camera. It was as if they were asking for it, while also asking for the opposite.
They are smiling very widely right in the face of the camera despite their blatant request. Maybe they truly wanted their wives to see this and enjoy their sense of humor a bit.
The Nightlight From the Underworld
Who would think that a Finding Dory nightlight could end up looking completely different when the lights go out. Although it does technically light up and is fluorescent, something went wrong with the design and it is much more on the creepy side of things rather than the cute and sweet child's toy it is meant to be. The light on the right is perfect if you want your kids to have nightmares every time the lights go out.
How can something go from looking so sweet and innocent one second to being completely creepy and sinister the next? It's truly frightening, but maybe that was the intent from the beginning rather than a designer's mistake.
Except That It Is Not a Job Well Done
Anyone who has ever eaten a fortune cookie before will certainly be able to testify that the whole point of the cookie is to crack the cookie in half before being able to see the fortune that is listed inside. You are not supposed to be able to read the fortune before eating, or at least opening the cookie. The irony here is that this cookie's fortune is saying "the job is well done" when it is very clear not well done.
If all the fortune cookies were like this, it wouldn't really be a fortune-telling. It would be much more along the lines of "pick your own fate".
Cut Your Own Pizza
Have you ever ordered a cut your own pizza? Why not try this restaurant that clearly offers that as an option. Instead of precutting the pizza as is what is offered in most places, this restaurant sends you your own pizza cutter with every order. Although it is probably pretty expensive for the restaurant (the pizza cutter is probably worth more than the pizza) maybe it is worth the purchase for the buyers to just put in a little extra effort.
Maybe someone was supposed to slice this pizza before sending it out and then got seriously distracted and instead closed the box and sent it out for delivery. They are probably still looking for the vanishing pizza cutter today.
Not a Good Kind of Surprise
Who ever thought that printing a label could be so incredibly important? This person was in for a surprise when they got their order and saw how the label was printed. Instead of a Grape Surprise drink, they got something else entirely. This is most definitely not the type of surprise anyone in interested in getting. It would be much better to stick with the grape surprise.
At least the drink looks pretty tasty, despite its disturbing name. Hopefully, the grapes are the only surprise that is in this drink.
The Pathway to the Window
There are so many questions that will go through your head when you see this picture. How is it possible that this was built? Is there something that the rest of the world is missing and there are people that prefer to enter their house via the window rather than the door? Just a hop, skip, and a jump and you can easily enter the house. Don't try to use the stairs.
The entire pathway and the stairs and the railing are all built leading to the window. Why was it built this way and why did no one ever fix it? How can people live there?
He Missed a Step in the Crescent Roll Process
In case this image isn't clear, Pillsbury offers customers a tube of dough that they can use to make crescent rolls. However, it is not as simple as this girl's boyfriend thought. They have all the dough, but you need to take the triangles and roll them into a crescent shape. Instead of rolling, they ended up with just flat triangles of dough, pretty much defeating the purpose.
They don't even look very tasty here and it appears that he burnt the edges a bit. It doesn't look like this man knows how to follow directions in the least bit.
The Black and White Colorized Photo
Usually, the requirement for a colorized photo is for it to have some...color. This post claims to have colorized a photo of the Bikini Atoll Atom Bomb from 1946, but it doesn't look like there is any color involved in the least bit. Maybe they just uploaded the wrong picture to the post or perhaps they are colorblind themselves and can't tell the difference.
If you count black and white as colors then perhaps this isn't a complete lie, but usually, that isn't the definition of colorized.
